FULL DAY TOUR | MY THO VINH TRANG PAGODA, THOI SON ISLAND, BEN TRE PROVINCE
Welcome to Mekong Delta, where you will have a chance to see the a dizzying variety of green. It’s a water world that moves to the rhythms of the mighty Mekong. Boats, houses and markets float upon the innumerable rivers, canals and streams that criss – cross the landscape like arteries.
You will be picked up you at your hotel or your apartment and departing to My Tho. Upon arrival in My Tho you visit beautiful Vinh Trang pagoda built in 1849 showing ancient architecture built upon a mixture of Vietnamese, Chinese and Cambodian construction styles. Especially beautiful structures in the pagoda are the two triumphal arches bearing an art of inserting bottle and porcelain fragments which create harmonious pictures illustrating the Buddha’s legendaries. If looking from far distance, the pagoda resembles the five-towers of the Angkor temple. Besides, the pagoda is surrounded by three big Buddha statues in the pagoda’s campus, including a 18m-high standing Amida Buddha statue, 20m-high sitting Maitreya Buddha statue, and lying Shakyamuni Buddha statue.
After the pagoda visit, your trip continues by boarding a small boat to Thoi Son Island which upon arrival gives you an introduction to the local lifestyle and famous local products. You enjoy tasting honey tea while having the chance holding a bee colony in your hands. You enjoy tasting tropical fresh fruits ( especially in summer, fruits savour full of sweetness) and listen to traditional folk songs which are still sang nowadays e.g. by women working day long at the Mekong Delta rice fields.
Your trip continues by getting on boat again rowing you through small narrow canal widely covered by palm leaves. Reaching the other side of Mekong river you will find yourself in Ben Tre province, the coconut kingdom. You will be surprised when getting to know how many different products can be made out of coconuts while shown how to open a coconut to taste its fresh juice. If you love candies, you might not yet know about coconut candies and how they are made. A must to taste and to treat yourself by trying all kind of different candy flavors. You, your family, friends or kids will love it and the candies make a perfect gift to bring home to your beloved ones.
Lovely friendly horse carriage will give you a ride to go for lunch now. Of course local Vietnamese Mekong Delta dishes are served you for lunch, delicious and tasty as Vietnamese food always is.
Being safe while sitting at the restaurant, the place you visit in its garden also is a little bit adventures, when getting close to the crocodile pool. If brave enough you might dare to feed them yourself.
It’s early afternoon now and time to ride back by boat and bus to Ho Chi Minh City while time to remember a day full of colorful impressions.
