FULL DAY TOUR | Discover the land of Coconut Kingdom and Mekong Delta
With it’s complicated system of canals, streams and rivers, Mekong Delta has an irresistible charm towards foreigners by its lush vegetation, fruit orchards and life on water. Since long history, local Mekong Delta people have attached their life to small wooden boats and floating houses. Floating market is therefore one of the most spectacular parts to see in Mekong Delta. Once in your life, it should be kind of a ‘must do’: waking up early, sitting on small wooden boat and attending very early Cai Be floating market on Mekong river. It will become a most un-expected life-time experience.
We will pick up at your hotel or your apartment and start traveling by Minivan or car to Cai Be, located approximately 90 km southwest of Ho Chi Minh City.
CAI BE FLOATING MARKET is a huge marketplace where both sellers and buyers make deals or purchases on the boats. Early in the morning, boats and sampans packed with vegetables, fruits and other agricultural goods from different provinces will be anchored along the banks of Tien River for kilometers having merchandise samples hung on a long pole in front of each boat to attract customers for buying with them. This is a common and unique sign you only find in the floating markets in Mekong Delta. When acquainted with the market habits, we get to start a 2-hours motorboat adventure to discover CAI BE FLOATING MARKET and have a close sight of the way locals trading fruits and other goods on the water. Don’t miss to buy and taste some fresh fruits from Mekong Delta.
The river journey takes us for a visit to a CANDY WORKSHOP, there you learn how to make coconut candy and you have the chance to try and to purchase some different flavored candies. Coconut candy called “Keo Dua” is one of the most popular and delicious candies in Vietnam enjoyed by a majority of people because of its unique and fragrant taste. For years, coconut candy has become a cultural symbol of people in the south of Vietnam and coconut candy making is an important part of people in the region to earn the living.
The lifestyle in Mekong Delta owns rustic appeal, but is dynamic and of exotic beauty. People in Mekong Delta have various ways of living. Most of population live in the flat plains near the river and the other part live their floating lives. People living on land earn livings by farming and fish farming. They gather to form villages or hamlets and keep close-connection between people in the same hamlet and among neighbouring hamlets. These people live on planting wet rice, fruits or other agricultural products and making handicraft.

You’ll learn to PREPARE VIETNAMESE DISHES as you discover the creativity of Vietnamese cuisine in mixing culinary art from other countries. You enjoy lunch by now tasting your own dishes with your fellow food lovers.
Before ending your trip and returning to Ho Chi Minh City, you will be trying to ROW A SAMPAN like a real local.
