FULL DAY TOUR | Discover the land of Coconut Kingdom and Mekong Delta
“Endless green spaces” is the quote to call Ben Tre province. Ben Tre looks like a green island surrounded by coconut trees and has become an attractive tourist destination for those who love eco-tourism activities, enjoy fresh air as well as unique culture space with strong characteristics of the South. The town’s sleepy waterfront, lined with ageing villas and the idyllic life in villages, it’s easy to explore by foot. All the region is a wonderful place giving you great experience when sitting on a boat and drifting along the canals, particularly for those wanting to escape the tour-bus bustle. Plus, the riverside promenade and the narrow lanes on both sides of the river are ideal for two-wheeled exploration.
You will be picked up at your hotel or your apartment and depart to Ben Tre province – the hometown of coconut. Reaching Mekong river, you start enjoying a boat trip through small canals with some of Mekong Delta’s most breathtaking scenery.
The first stop is at BRICK KILNS. A brick factory might not sound like a wildly cool place to visit on a Southeast Asian holiday, which is why only few tourists do. But, it should not be missed to visit! As we bring you there, be bold and wander in for a peek. It offers a fascinating glimpse at a local industry.
If you are a candy lover, you will be very happy as our next stop is to one of the CANDY PROCESSING WORKSHOPS which has made its name for being a specialty of Southern Vietnam. Coconut, besides being a favorite sweet and refreshing drink, local people also take advantage of coconut flesh to make great candy. For those who are interested in exploring the culture of local people, adopt a visit to famous workshops to gain first-hand experience of how people manufacture those sweet and tasty candies. Especially, it would be a great idea to buy them as souvenirs for your families and friends.
We continue our tour and you will have an amazing visit to a local family workshop where SLEEPING MATS MADE are made, another product made in traditional villages in Mekong Delta. Not only is the Mekong Delta the homeland of rice fields, orchards and fertile villages, the Mekong Delta is also famous for weaving sleeping mats. With materials such as: “soi lac”, “day bo” (Yarn and Bull rope) … the women here have created great works. It is a fascinating spectacle for you to see the whole family gather to make mats as they choose lat (lat – a plant growing in the field of Vietnam) strings to dry, weave and decorate.
One more highlight in our tour is for sure taking, a “XE LOI” ride (a kind of modern motorized rickshaw) and going to visit a peaceful village where you can have a short walk to observe rural life of the locals and walk to stop at a riverside restaurant for a delicious lunch trying some local specialties such as ELEPHANT EAR FISH – a food specialty of the Mekong Delta, being crispy outside but tender inside, pretty delicious and healthy.
After a great lunch which we are sure you will have enjoyed, it is time to get on a SAMPAN BOAT and being rowed along canals surrounded by coconut trees. It’s really wonderful and perfect to relax before it is time to say Goodbye and returning back to Saigon.
